There’s a difference between taking the kids to see Father Christmas and giving them a Christmas they’ll talk about for years. A Thornton Hall Christmas Adventure firmly sits in the second category.
Running every year from late November through to Christmas Eve, this multi-award-winning immersive experience has been creating magical memories since 2014. It’s not a queue, a photo, and a gift. It’s a full journey — into another world entirely.
What is the Christmas Adventure?
Imagine stepping through a portal into the Yuletide Village — a hidden realm where Christmas magic is real, its festive residents are waiting to welcome you, and every moment has been crafted to make the season feel extraordinary.
The Adventure runs for approximately 110 minutes and takes families through a series of enchanting stops, each with its own story, its own characters, and its own hands-on moment to treasure. At the end, there’s soft play included in your ticket — 90 minutes to let the kids burn off the excitement.
Your journey through the Yuletide Village
The Gatekeeper’s Lodge
It begins at the ancient gates. The Gatekeeper is waiting — but the portal won’t open without your help. From the very first moment, this is an adventure your family is part of, not just watching.
Mother Christmas’s Kitchen
Step inside the warm, cinnamon-scented kitchen and join Mother Christmas in one of her most beloved traditions. The baking stop is a firm favourite, and the smells alone make it unforgettable.
The Enchanted Study
At the heart of the village lies a secret ancient study, home to a mystical keeper. This is where the magic of Christmas is preserved — and where you get to witness it for yourself.
Winterbloom Hollow
Into the forest, where you’ll gather nature’s treasures and craft something special to mark the festive season. A quieter, more peaceful stop — and a lovely one.
The Yuletide Treepi
A towering Christmas tree reaches up through the treepi. Gather with your fellow adventurers, hang your heartfelt wishes on its magical branches, and dare to believe they might just come true.
Father Christmas
At the top of the Yuletide Village, in his twinkling firelit lodge, Father Christmas is waiting. He’ll want to hear all about your adventure — and for the children, there’s a special gift. This isn’t a rushed photo opportunity. It’s a proper visit.
The Greenlands Express
After meeting Father Christmas, climb aboard for a magical ride out to meet his magnificent deer, before the Greenlands Express whisks you back to the human world. A perfect ending to a perfect adventure.
Different experiences for different families
The standard Adventure suits all ages and runs across dates from late November to Christmas Eve. But there are other options too.
The Just Be You Adventure runs on dedicated dates in December and offers the same full experience for families with additional needs — in a calmer, more considered environment. No one should miss out on Christmas magic.
The Mini Adventure runs in early December and is designed specifically for younger children and toddlers — a shorter, gentler introduction to the Yuletide Village.
There’s also a School Christmas Experience for groups — a brilliant way for teachers to bring some festive wonder into the school calendar.
A word on booking
Dates sell out. Often quickly. The Christmas Adventure has been running for over a decade and has a loyal following — many families rebook year after year. Weekend dates in December are particularly popular, and several dates across the season sell out entirely.
If you’re thinking about it, the best time to book is as soon as tickets are released. Don’t leave it until December and risk disappointment.
